Shri Yogendra Kumar Singh, IRS (Retd.), belongs to the 1988 batch of the Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax). During his distinguished career spanning approximately 35 years in the Income Tax Department, he held various important assignments and gained extensive experience in tax administration. His work encompassed investigation of tax evasion petitions, surveys and searches, grievance redressal, and promotion of transparency and integrity in tax administration. He also served as Chief Vigilance Officer in the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. He headed Income Tax Assessments under the Faceless Assessment Scheme, a flagship initiative of the Income Tax Department. He superannuated as Director General of Income Tax (Systems), where he was responsible for supervising the comprehensive transformation of the Department's online processes. These initiatives significantly benefited taxpayers and tax professionals by enabling online services, including PAN applications, return filing, tax payments, assessments, and appeals, thereby facilitating seamless access to tax administration from their homes or offices. Shri Singh is presently serving as Member (Technical) at the National Company Law Tribunal, Guwahati Bench.
