Shri Venkataraman Subramaniam has 36 years of extensive experience in the financial sector. He joined the State Bank of India as a Probationary Officer in 1985 and retired as Chief General Manager in May 2022. He possesses comprehensive banking expertise across Retail Credit, Branch Banking, Audit, Risk Management, Corporate Credit, and Stressed Assets Management.As Assistant General Manager, he served as Relationship Manager handling Mid Corporate Accounts. As Deputy General Manager, he functioned as Credit Auditor, auditing important branches across India with focus on high-value credit and preparing Independent Credit Risk Assessments for high-value credit proposals before Sanctioning Committees in the Risk Management Department.
As General Manager in the Project Finance Department, he managed infrastructure funding across Roads, Thermal Power, Renewable Energy, and Airport Financing sectors. As Chief General Manager heading the Stressed Assets Vertical, he handled high-value NPA accounts, managed restructuring, and pursued insolvency processes under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) for reducing the Bank's Non-Performing Assets. He was also a member of the Sub-Committee of the Indian Banks' Association on Stressed Assets. His academic qualifications include Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.), Chartered Accountancy (Intermediate), Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) from ISACA, USA, and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) from The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), USA. He completed a one-week course on "Getting Public Private Partnership Right" from IIM Ahmedabad, the Online Proficiency Self-Assessment Test for Independent Director's Databank, and a four-month Online Programme on Corporate Governance from the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs.
