Born in the village of Ram Nagar Bhojpur, District Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, on 08.06.1962, Shri Jyoti Kumar Tripathi completed his primary and intermediate education and graduated from Oudh University, now Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, Ayodhya, in 1981. After graduation, he obtained his LL.B. degree in 1983 from the University of Allahabad, now Prayagraj. He was enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh in 1985 and practised before the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad. In 1990, he was appointed as Assistant Public Prosecutor in the State of Bihar and was also selected as Judicial Magistrate in the Bihar Judicial Service (1983 Batch). He was selected as Munsif Magistrate in the Uttar Pradesh Judicial Service (1988 Batch) and joined as Munsif Magistrate in 1992. He served as Chief Judicial Magistrate at Ayodhya. After serving in several posts, he was promoted to the Higher Judicial Service in 2006 and retired as District and Sessions Judge on 30.06.2022. After retirement, he was appointed as Presiding Officer, Central Government Industrial Tribunal-cum-Labour Court, Chandigarh. He is presently serving as Member (Judicial), National Company Law Tribunal, Chennai Bench.
