Shri V. G. Venkata Chalapathy holds an M.A. in Economics from Madras University, is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers, and possesses a Diploma in Bank Management from the Indian Institute of Bankers. He has also acquired an M.S. in Financial Markets from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, USA, a Ph.D. in Economics from Mysore University, and an MBA in Finance. Additionally, he completed the Leadership Program in Digital Finance conducted by ISB in 2022 and a Certificate Course on Insolvency and Corporate Law conducted by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Shri Chalapathy worked as an Officer with Andhra Bank for five years from 1985 to 1990 in the areas of Trade and Industrial Finance. He joined the Reserve Bank of India as a Manager in November 1990 and superannuated on 28th February 2022 as Chief General Manager. During his tenure with RBI, he gained extensive experience in Banking Operations, Investment Management, Currency Management, Training of Bankers, Supervision, FEMA, and Deposit Insurance.
