Shri Prabhat Kumar is currently Member (Technical) at the National Company Law Tribunal, Mumbai Bench, appointed by the Government of India w.e.f. 18th November, 2022. He is a Chartered Accountant (May 1987), CS Intermediate (December 1987), and Fellow Member of ICAI, securing All India Rank-22 in CA Final and Rank-8 in CS Intermediate, and was among India's youngest CAs. He holds a Bachelor of Law from Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut (2014, First Division), and is a Registered Valuer and Insolvency Professional (2021). He completed Certificate Courses in Alternate Dispute Resolution (ICAI) and International Commercial Arbitration (Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London). He is a Lifetime Member of the Independent Directors' Databank, IICA, and earned awards during his academic pursuits. Prior to joining NCLT, he practised as a Chartered Accountant for 33+ years (October 1988–November 2022), providing expertise in Audits, Tax Laws, Financial Structuring, Management Reporting, Commercial Agreements, Corporate Planning, and Transaction Advisory. He served as Consultant to Bidders and Successful Resolution Applicants, appeared before ITAT, CESTAT, Benami Property Appellate Tribunal, FEMA Appellate Tribunal, and NCLT, delivered lectures on Tax Laws in ICAI study circles, and contributed articles on Tax Laws and Benami Law to leading legal reporters.
